DIY: Root Beer Mug Cupcakes with Vanilla Ice Cream

These root beer-flavored mug cupcakes are absolutely adorable and look perfect enough to be served to your guests. But the best part is that all the ingredients are accessible and easy to make!

These root beer mugs are made with modeling chocolate around vanilla-flavored cake. Add some vanilla ice cream on top for that frosty look and you’ll be good to go.

Ingredients:

For Cake

  • 2 tablespoons A&W Root Beer Dessert Topper
  • 1 vanilla cake mix
  • root beer
  • eggs and oil

Modeling Chocolate Cake Wrappers:

  • 24 ounces white confectionery coating/white candy melts
  • 3/4 cup A&W Root Beer Dessert Topper or more

Vanilla Ice Cream Filling:

  1. 8 ounces white chocolate
  2. 1/3–2/3 cup  vanilla ice cream

White Modeling Chocolate Handles:

  • 4–6 ounces white modeling chocolate

Foam:

  • 1 (8 ounce tub) frozen whipped topping, thawed

Supplies Needed:

  • 10 half-pint mason jars
  • baking sheet
  • cupcake plunger

Instructions:

Step 1: Root Beer Cake

1. Prepare a batch of ten mason jars and spray on some non-stick spray before doing anything else

2. Make your cake mix and use root beer instead of water for the amount indicated in package, then add 2 tablespoons of A&W dessert topper last

3. Poor batter in your mason jars in equal amount, place on a baking sheet, then heat it up in an oven at 350 degrees, and bake for 20 minutes max

4. While baking, you can make your vanilla filling. (See instructions in next page.)

5. After the cakes are baked, turn jars upside down until cakes fall out intact. If they stick on the jar, you may run a small knife around the edges to pull them out
