Since Tom Clark was deployed in the Army overseas, he has never really been apart his wife, Arnisteen. Until one day, they were put in separate rooms at Piedmont Fayette Hospital.
Tom and his wife has been married for 68 years already. And, the only time they were away from each other was when Tom was deployed in Korea while serving the Army.
Earlier this month, the couple was confined at Piedmont Fayette Hospital. They were placed in separate rooms in the orthopedic section. With the help of a hospital worker in Georgia, the 96-year-old man was reunited with his 92-year-old wife.
For the couple, spending time apart was ever really easy. So, Tina Mann, the director of the floor, where Tom and Arnisteen are staying, decided to handle things on her own. She made a special arrangement for Tom, so that he can visit his wife in her room. She was then assisted by a clinical staff. Upon their meeting, Tom was so happy. He even described his deep love for his lovely wife.
“I just can’t be away from her. She’s the finest woman in the world,” he said.
According to a hospital official, the couple is still in the hospital. But, they are brought together a number of times, even if it is against the state’s regulations to put two patients in one private room.
Their story was shared to the Facebook page of the hospital. Since then, it has gone viral, having almost 3,000 shares. Sooner or later, they are expected to be released and moved to a rehabilitation facility.
