With a height of 43.43 centimeters (17.1 inches), this 18-month old F1 Savannah cat is the new world record holder for the tallest cat. Scarlett’s Magic, as she is named, is owned by Kim Draper of Corona, California, USA.
Aside from being the tallest, she is also thought to be the longest, measuring 3.5 ft from her nose to the tip of her tail.
Scarletts is descended from F1 Savannahs, a cross-breed of ordinary cats with African servals. Her owner Kim, who breeds the pets says this breed is the closest to a wild cat. Kim also owns the California-based Savannah Cat Shoppe. She and her husband Lee are registered Savannah breeders, and also owns a registered cattery in Oklahoma named the Bella Gattini.
According to her, the Savannah is the most intelligent, loving and beautiful animal companion a family could wish for. The feline is becoming more popular in California because of the unique appearance and learning abilities. “They are active animals, they like to play, the like to be near their owners and family,” says Kim.
Cat lovers who would love to own a Savannah cat may drop a visit at Savannah Cat Shoppe at the Dos Lagos shopping center in Corona. The pet store specializes in second- to fifth-generation Savannah cats.
Savannah’s can be legally kept in California, as approved by the state department of Fish and Game.
