The latest fad includes shaping young beloved pet into a sphere or a square. Though a bit unusual, the effect is eye-catching and clean.

The way the Taiwanese dog hairstylists are giving their fuzzy customers an outrageous makeover reminds us of Edward Scissorhands’ trimming of shrubs.

Forty-two-year-old hairstylist Tain Yeh said, “I am aware of the trend although we don’t have much request for it here because it’s very difficult to keep the shape. It came about because people were always looking for more impressive haircuts, and somebody came up with the idea of shaping the dog like a hedge.”

When photos of puppy-eyed dogs with their new shapes, rather, new cuts, were posted on the Internet, it instantly became popular.

More and more owners visited the salon for their pets to have a makeover. But not just to join the craze but because they want to get likes and shares on their social media accounts.

Yeh added, “The dogs don’t mind, and the owners keep coming back for more. This sort of haircut needs a lot more maintenance then the regular type.

“It is also not suitable for all dog breeds. The dog needs to have plenty of hair to play around with so that you can shape it around the face and body.”
