Animals at a private zoo in Armenia are living in awful conditions because the owner of the zoo has vanished. The zoo is in Gyumri, and it only has a few animals left. The zoo has three lions, two bears, and two guinea pigs in cramped cages with little to no food to feast on.

The billionaire who bought these animals has not taken care of them. He seemingly only bought the wild creatures to give himself some prestige, something sort of like a status symbol to show off to his friends.
These animals have spent years in awful conditions, and they are showing signs of distress. They pace around their small cages and bang their heads against the walls.
The animals are only receiving help from two pensioners who feed the animals with whatever they can afford. Hovhamnes and Alvina Madoyan have moved to a shelter near the zoo so that they could be closer to the creatures that they care for.
When asked by a reporter about their task, Hovhamnes said, “I lost my job. I had nothing, my wife and I were walking by the deserted zoo when we heard these terrible cries of animals in torment. We came in to see the lioness and her cub literally frothing at the mouths from lack of water. My wife and I can’t bear to see God’s creatures in pain. We fetched water from them and then organised some meat from a local slaughterman. That is how we scrape by, feeding them what we can muster. It is the same for the bears. We moved into an old shed near the lion enclosure to be near to them five months ago.”
A Sussex-based animal rights group called International Animal Rescue wants to raise awareness of the plight of the zoo’s animals.
The fate of these animals is dependent on a retired couple who don’t have the resources to give the animals all they truly need. The animals need to be moved to a place where they can be better cared for. Hopefully, they find a way to raise the funds to help these creatures.
