Heartwarming Picture of Father and Daughter Before Notre-Dame Fire Erupted

While the world was shaken by the fire that burned the iconic monument on April 15, a heartwarming photo taken minutes before the fire took place is making its rounds on the internet. (Check out these artworks by artists paying tribute to the cathedral.) The photo, circulated by its owner online, is a plea to find the father and daughter featured in it. The image shows a man spinning a child in circles. Both were smiling in front of Notre-Dame’s facade about an hour before the blaze engulfed the cathedral. Brooke Windsor, the American tourist who took the photo, tweeted and captioned it “I took this photo as we were leaving #NotreDame about an hour before it caught on fire. I almost went up to the dad and asked if he wanted it. Now I wish I had. Twitter if you have any magic, help him find this.”

Windsor was uncertain about the father and daughter relationship, but based on what she saw, she speculated that was the case. “I do not know if it was a dad and a daughter, it’s simply the dynamic I observed from them while debating on interrupting this moment. It may be an uncle, brother, friend, who knows until we find them.”

The image has since been retweeted more than 200,000 times from people across the world. Two days after she tweeted, Windsor confirmed that she’s finally been in touch with the father in the photo through Twitter, though he has asked to remain anonymous.

“The search is over!” she tweeted Thursday. “The photo has reached the dad and family.”

The dad privately messaged Windsor, saying, “Thanks again for that beautiful photo, we will find a special place for it.” Windsor also thanked everyone who shared the photo for helping to locate its subjects.
