Do you believe in fate? While there are things that are destined to happen, others just happen by luck. Here are some very peculiar stories that occurred in the most unexpected way:
You meet the composer of the song you were just singing
One guy decided to dine in a cheap restaurant with his friends. Since he ate everything on his plate ahead of the rest, he decided to get up and wait for them downstairs. While on his way down, he was singing a Turkish song and ran into someone. He apologized but saw him smiling. Then he recognized that he was the original singer and composer of the song he was singing.
My brother is going to kill your father
Abraham Lincoln‘s son, Robert Todd Lincoln, was saved by Edwin Booth from an accident by a train. Booth pulled the young lad to safety as he fell off a train platform at a train station in New Jersey. But shortly after the incident, his brother, John Wikes Booth, killed the lad’s father, the late Abraham Lincoln.
Can you catch a baby sent from the heavens once? How about twice?
Joseph Figlock, a street sweeper in Detroit, was in an alley when a baby fell directly on top of him from a fourth-story window. The two survived but were allegedly injured. After one year, similar incident happened. Two-year-old David Thomas fell onto Figlock from the same floor. His experience was featured in an article on Time Magazine in 1938.
9/11 incident had shown signs before it even happened
A boy from Georgia never really believed in superstitions or coincidences. But one event changed his way of thinking. In 2001, every time he looked at the time, it always read 9:11. This occurred more than 20 times and he started to believe it must have some meaning. When the devastating act of terrorism occurred he was at school while the events played out on the news. From that point on, he firmly believed in superstition or coincidence.
The connection between Mark Twain and Halley’s comet
Halley’s Comet moves in an orbit that takes about 75 years. When author Mark Twain was born in 1835, the comet neared Earth and appeared in the sky.
John H. Liehard, professor of history at the University of Houston, read Twain’s prediction. He said, “I came in with Halley’s Comet.. . . It is coming again.. . . and I expect to go out with it.. . . The Almighty has said, no doubt: ‘Now here are these two unaccountable freaks; they came in together, they must go out together.”
On April 21, 1910, the author’s prediction came true. Twain died when the bright comet came closer to the planet again.
Called France and his wife picked up
In 1986, a man decided to stay at home in California while his wife and brother-in-law traveled to Europe. Although he knew their itinerary, he had no idea where they were at the moment. One day, he decided to call because he hadn’t talked to them for days. He was expecting an overseas operator to receive the call, but after more or less 15 rings, it was his wife on the other line. Mind Blown.
An heir by chance
In 1858, card player Robert Fallon allegedly cheated during a poker game in San Francisco. He was suddenly shot to death by his opponent. Nobody wanted to take over the seat of the dead man, except for an unknown person who took the chance and staked the opponent with Fallon’s $600.
Fallon’s replacement won about $2,200. Then the authority arrived and demanded that the winning amount be given to card player’s heir. Later on, they found out that the man who replaced Fallon was his son, whom he hadn’t seen in seven years. Their story was published in the book Almanac of the Infamous, the Incredible, and the Ignored by Juanita Rose Violini.
Twin brothers were born the same day and died exactly on the same day
In 2002, a 70-year-old man died after being hit by a truck while riding his bike in northern Finland. A couple of hours later, his twin brother crossed the same road and unfortunately died in the same manner.
Police officer Marja-Leena Huhtala said during the interview, “This is simply a historic coincidence. Although the road is a busy one, accidents don’t occur every day. It made my hair stand on end when I heard the two were brothers, and identical twins at that. It came to mind that perhaps someone from upstairs had a say in this.”
Twins have more similarities than just a face
After birth, two twins had been separated and adopted by different families, coincidentally naming them James. The two James were enrolled to law enforcement — one as a deputy sheriff and the other one as a security. And then, they married and divorced women named Linda. Later on, they remarried women with the same name, Betty. Their first kids were boys. The first named his son James Allan and the latter named his James Alan. When the twins eventually found each other, they were blown away by the mysterious similarities of their separated lives.
Stalin’s audacity draws warlord’s curse
Joseph Stalin, the communist dictator of the Soviet Union, wanted to witness the face of the 14th century Turko-Mongol warlord Tamerlane in Samarkand. But as recounted in Stalin’s biography by Edvard Radzinsky, legend suggests “the War God’s sleep must not be disturbed”. If his corpse was disturbed, Tamerlane would come back on the third day to bring war.
Despite that, Stalin took the chance and opened the coffin on June 19, 1941. Three days after, Stalin was learned of Germany’s invasion of the Soviet Union.
A freaky friday the 13th

Chance Meetings… Again …and again
A family traveled to San Diego and during their travels, they bonded with a family of three. Hours later they parted ways.
Two years later, they traveled again on an Alaskan cruise line. During their dinner on their third day, they met again the same family they met in San Diego. They just laughed and spent the rest of the vacation with their unplanned reunion.
And then just another year later, they were having a great time in Australia scuba-diving at the Great Barrier Reef. Again, they met the family of three for another impromptu reunion. Can you imagine the excitement they felt on their third meeting?
