When a fire hit a mobile home in Oakland, Florida, 10-year-old Isaiah Francis did not think twice about going inside the house and rescuing two babies who were in it.
The young boy was playing at his friend Jeremiah Grimes’ house, when they both noticed the fire. They immediately rushed to the mobile home to check out what was happening. When he noticed that heavy smoke was already billowing from the house and the father trying to put out the fire, he asked for the whereabouts of the kids and immediately went to them.
When he located the young tots, Isaiah brought them out, carrying them in both arms. They were aged six months and 18 months old, respectively. He didn’t know though that there were still two kids inside. Luckily, it was during this time when the Orange County fire department arrived and got the two other kids to safety.
However, it was already clear though that Isaiah was that day’s hero. During an interview with WFTV, Isaiah admitted that he was afraid when he went inside the mobile home to save the kids. He said:
“My heart was beating so fast.”
Isaiah’s friend, Jeremiah was also on the scene when the fire broke out. They were playing video games at his home when they both noticed the fire.
Jeremiah was also inside the mobile home and was the one who talked with a 911 operator. According to WFTV , this was part of the conversation recorded between the boy and 911:
“I cannot see. It’s smoke, it’s everywhere. If you walk in the house it’s fire.”
This just proves that while there are some people who become heroes because of circumstance, there are those who seem to be born with the instinct to become one. They are the ones who jump right into a dangerous situation without thinking of what might become of them. They are the people who don’t think twice about saving people, even if it means risking their lives to do it and Isaiah along with his friend Jeremiah are definitely among them.
