During times of crisis, most adults are expected to know what to do in a calm handle things easily. But to expect a child to step up and brave the odds, that would definitely make one remarkable and worth-sharing story.
At the age of 3, Alesaundra Tafoya witnessed something frightening. Her father, Frank Tafoya, collapsed right before her eyes and became unresponsive. According to reports, the man from Manteca, California, accidentally took a bedtime dose instead of his prescribed medicine.
Despite being caught in the middle of a serious situation, the young Alesaundra did not panic. Instead, she did something that made her a hero.
She decided to leave her home and walked to the nearest fire station to seek help from the firefighters. She then told them about her father’s need for immediate medical attention. She reportedly said her father was “frozen.”
Captain Robert Villalovoz of Manteca Fire Department told CBS News, “I’ve been here over 20 years, that’s the first time I’ve ever had a 3-year-old walk up to the fire station.”
Reports said that if it weren’t for the heroic act of the little girl, Frank would have probably died.
Alesaundra’s mother is just so thankful that her child is paying close attention to what she’s been teaching her every day about the firehouse. She shared, “She’s been listening, and that’s really good.”
