Georgia Bradley, a 25-year-old British tourist, was on a vacation in Greece when she was attacked on the beach while strolling alone. She was offered a drink by two men, but when she declined the offer, one of them grabbed and attempted to abduct her.

If it hadn’t been for an unlikely hero in the form of a curly-haired black dog that barked at the men until they ran off, she may have been in grave danger.

The two were quick to form a connection, but when the vacation was over, she had to leave the dog she named Pepper behind.

“When we left to go to the airport, we looked back and Pepper was running after the car. It was heartbreaking,” she said.

Believing that she couldn’t take Pepper with her, Bradley tried to convince a local animal shelter to take the dog in, but she was unsuccessful.

“When I got home, I couldn’t stop thinking about her, so I took the soonest flight back out that I could, which was two weeks later,” Georgia recounts.

Wanting to be reunited with the hero dog that saved her life, Bradley began a five-week grueling process to legally adopt Pepper. She flew back to Greece just two weeks after her first visit, and miraculously, the mutt was found on the beach, the same spot where Bradley could have lost her life.

Pepper had to be microchipped, dewormed, and given a rabies shot before she would be eligible for a pet passport. The pup also spent 21 days quarantined in boarding kennels before leaving for Britain.

But the biggest surprise was yet to come. Bradley found out later that Pepper was pregnant, and she was brought to her forever home just in time for the delivery.

Pepper and her puppies now safely reside in the United Kingdom, and though the ordeal had been hard and expensive, Georgia Bradley knew in her heart that it was all worth it.

In her own words,

It has been such a crazy journey. But I am over the moon. Pepper has settled in brilliantly.”

While it was Pepper who saved Georgia Bradley at first, it now seems like the roles have switched, and both of them couldn’t be any happier.
