In a shocking turn of events, an unlikely hero emerged during a tragic crisis. A homeless man sacrificed his life to save a woman who was held hostage by a gunman in Brazil. The event transpired just outside the popular Sao Paulo Cathedral.
Luckily for the victim, one man suddenly popped out of nowhere and rescued her from certain death. Unfortunately, the hero died from gunshot wounds while fighting off the gunman.

Although the brave hero who was later identified as Erasmo Francisco Rodrigues de Lima perished, his efforts were not in vain. Luiz Antonio da Silva, the gunman, was arrested after he was shot and injured by the police as Francisco fought with him.
Apparently, this is not the first time that Silva had encounter with the police. Silva has spent 22 years in prison before for causing grievous bodily harm, theft, and damage of property.
The homeless have always been stigmatized by people. Passersby usually look down on them, not even batting an eye and treating them as someone who’s repulsive or invisible. But Francisco shed a new light to what a homeless man can do and is willing to do for others. He shall be remembered as the brave one who risked his own life to save someone else’s.
