A two-year-old boy was left for dead in Nigeria when his parents accused him of being a witch. The sad reality, though, is that in the country, this form of child abuse is not an unusual occurrence.

This boy was abandoned because his parents thought he was a witch
Anja Ringgren Loven, the Danish aid worker who rescued the abandoned boy, said, “Thousands of children are being accused of being witches and we’ve both seen torture of children, dead children, and frightened children.”
Danish aid worker Anja found him on January 31, 2016, and named him Hope
Hope was suffering from malnutrition and worms
Thanks to Anja, he began to receive medical attention
And slowly, he started getting better
Loven, who discovered the child on January 31, decided to call him Hope, as he was still miraculously alive despite wandering the streets for eight months—starved, sick with worms, and severely malnourished.
The aid worker has since given him medical attention. Thanks to her, the two-year-old is now on his way to recovery.
She said about the boy, “Hope’s condition is stable now. Today, he has had powers to sit up and smiling at us. He’s a strong little boy.”
“This is what makes life so beautiful and valuable and therefore I will let the pictures speak for themselves.”
