A five year old boy noticed a homeless man outside the waffle house in Prattville, Alabama and asked his mother to treat him to dinner inside the restaurant where he sang his blessings before the meal.
Josiah Duncan is only five years old when he saw a dusty man holding a bag and a bike few months ago while in the Waffle House at Prattville-Millbrook exit. He was curious with his poor display and asked his mother, Ava Faulk, questions like where his family is and his home, and where he keeps his groceries. Ava explained to his son that the man is homeless and he doesn’t have anyone to lean on either.
Josiah realized this man has no food and he felt he needed to do something about it. So he asked his mother to buy a food for this homeless man and Ava agreed. He jumped up and asked the man if he needed a menu because he can’t order without one and the man asked for a hamburger.
The boy insisted to have more so the man asked for bacon and Ava told him he can get as much bacon as he wanted. Before the homeless man ate his meal, Josh requested to say his blessings with the man and he said loudly:
“God our Father, God our Father, we thank you, we thank you, for our many blessings, for our many blessings, Amen, Amen.”
Everyone was tearing up after he said his prayers including the disheveled man and the eleven customers in the restaurants and Ava was touched by this melting gesture of his son that she will never forget.
Indeed, this is one of the greatest accomplishments for a parent to witness from her child and how her little Josh made a difference in his simple act of kindness.
