Singer Leslie Dorchester was not able to make it to a college basketball game she was invited to perform at due to a snowstorm traffic in West Virginia. So police officer Carlton Smith stood up to take her place and nailed an incredible rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner” on her behalf.

Well, turned out, Officer Smith is not just your regular police officer. The talented man even appeared on the famous show American Idol.

With his unbelievably awesome performance, the officer left the audience’s jaw dropping before the game between the University of Kansas and West Virginia University started.

“Any chance I get to do the national anthem is always a big deal to me. I was just basically hoping I didn’t mess it up too much,” Smith said after his performance.

Officer Smith was informed about the impromptu performance only five minutes before he took the stage, but still, he completed it flawlessly.
