When CBS aired the broadcast for the annual Kennedy Center Honors in 2012, who would have forgotten the epic performance of the sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson of the band Heart with their own rendition of Led Zeppelin’s ‘Stairway to Heaven’?
Kennedy Center Honors awards exemplary lifetime achievement in the performing arts, and at that year, the rock band Led Zeppelin was one of the honorees. For the finale of the said event, the Wilson sisters, joined by the Jason Bonham, son of the late drummer of the British rock band, John Bonham, put on a show with the performance of the classic rock, which left Led Zeppelin’s frontman, Robert Plant, teary-eyed for the whole duration of the song.
‘Stairway to Heaven’ has been considered as one of the greatest rock songs of all time since its release in 1971, and guitarists all over the world must have learned each note of its intro. It is incredibly difficult to pull off a live performance with this song for its anthemic energy, building climax, and intricate vocals. However, Ann brought down the house with her notable powerhouse vocals which rendered the entire audience speechless.
Must be a great time for the Led Zeppelin to witness their own work of art being performed after all these years.
Hang on to the edge of your seats and get ready to get goosebumps, for here comes the video of their entire performance:
