Last Christmas, her family gifted her two Barbie dolls, but unlike other young girls, she wasn’t thinking about what name she was going to give them or what kind of clothes would she want them to wear. Instead, she thought about how blessed she was to have beautiful gifts while many children have nothing on that happy celebration.

Gianni believed other young girls should also be playing with those dolls. Not just so they could enjoy it, but so they also know they have a friend to talk to and someone who would listen to them.

“Gianni explained to me that the Barbie can be a friend to the young girls when they feel that they have no one to talk to,” Gianni’s mother, Whitney Graham, told Huffington Post.

And since that day, Gianni was on a mission. She promised to gather 1,000 dolls so she could give it to 1,000 girls who need it the most, particularly those who are homeless or in care. The 9-year-old girl was serious about her mission that she donated her own two Barbies for a head start.

She has even set up a Web site wherein people can donate to help her reach her goal and to make the dreams of so many little girls like herself come true.

She also set up her own Instagram account and has since collected more than 500 dolls from generous individuals from across the world.
