Twenty-five-year-old Lance Corporal Gary Crane asked 22-year-old Kristine Gaffney‘s parents for permission week before he asked her hand for marriage.
Sweating and shaking nervously, Crane knelt down, offered the ring, popped the question, and after a few seconds, announced, “She said yes!'”
Singer Rod Stewart was also there at the London’s Guildhall. He was with his wife, Penny Lancaster, and they presented the Calne, Wilts, couple with flowers and champagne on stage.
But it wasn’t just the proposal that made that night special. Crane, of 2 Rifles, was reportedly nominated for the Most Outstanding Soldier Award for his counter-poaching efforts in Gabon.
