Do You Know What His Hug Means? Here’s Our Decoder!

,

A tight embrace is enough to take the pain away. Not every girl might know this, but whenever your partner holds you, it could mean more than just a simple sign of just missing you. Here are some tips to decode their embrace:

The Back Hug

When he comes behind your back and places his arms over your chest.

This is a sure sign that he is in love. It makes him feel one with you, and it can also signify a protective gesture. According to body-language expert and author of Success Signals, Patti Wood, this type of action says that “he is flexing his masculinity—this displays his strength and dominance.” Additionally, your partner could do this when he feels the relationship is strained and is afraid to see the look of rejection on your face. Christopher Blazina, PhD, and author of The Secret Lives of Men adds, “He avoids hugging face-to-face because he’s worried you’re not into him.”

A Rub on the Back

A gentle stroke on the back while he holds you.

This is different from a pat as this is more affectionate. It can go from a simple need to be touched to something sexual. “The back is a very vulnerable part of the body,” Wood says. “You can’t see your back, so being touched there can be startling.” It’s an innate display of desire and need for attention.

Pat

A continuous thump on your upper back as you embrace.

Normally, guys do this when they hug their friends. So this could most likely be a sign of friendship rather than something more. It could be when you’re out and about or just together. This is also common with friendly exes and can be a surefire sign that while the spark of love has fizzled out, it doesn’t mean that the friendship is lost.

But before you start to worry as your partner can use this as a sign of encouragement or if he isn’t into public displays of affection, we say it’s best to see where if he does it regularly or not.

Wrap Around the Waist

His wraps his hands around your lower back and pulls you toward him.

This means that he wants to be one with you and his desire is just building up by the minute.  “A pelvis-to-pelvis embrace shows he’d like to merge with you sexually,” Wood says. Your partner knows you are an item and he isn’t afraid of showing it.

To top it off, take note of the way your partner hugs you. If he holds your gaze even for just a while, it means he wants to know what you’re feeling, and nothing spells romance more than that.
