Men and their bikes are like women and their shoes. Men go wild about motorcycles. Motorcycles and big bikes excite men like any other luxury toys.
It is no wonder why there are some manufacturers who specialize on creating specialty and unique bikes. With top-notch designs, performances and outlooks these bikes are certainly more expensive than your ordinary bikes.
Here are the world’s most expensive bikes:
TRON Light Cycle ($77,000)
If you have ever wanted to live out your dreams of riding around on the same bike Jeff Bridges did in the 1982 movie, “Tron” (or even the 2010 sequel, “Tron Legacy”), you had your chance to do so earlier in May 2015 when it was sold by Andrews Collection, a unique car dealership in California. Now the closest shot you have to riding around on this bad boy is living out your fantasies in a video game.
Neiman Marcus Limited Edition Fighter – $ 110,000
Manufactured by Confederate Motor Company, this bike is not for the faint-hearted. Maximizing the use of steel, the bike creates a strong and unique appearance.
Coventry Eagle – $ 120,000
Harley-Davidson Rocker – $ 130,000
Modified from a popular German manufacturer House of Thunder, this bike is simply jaw-dropping. The Rocker has a 37 degrees inclined front and rear. This makes the seat very close to the tire. The Harley-Davidson is one of the better looking bikes in the world.
Hildebrand Wolfmüller – $ 150,000
Hidebrand and Wolf Müller is the world’s first production motorcycle in the world. This historic bike is the first bike in the world so buyers are not only buying this unique bike but also buying a historic relic. This motorcycle has two-cylinder four-stroke engine and is completely functional.
Hub less Harley-Davidson – $ 155,000
Another creation from the world famous motorcycle makers, Harley-Davidson makes it to the most expensive bikes in the world. This chopper comes in the standard Harley looks less the hub.
Icon Sheene ($172,000)
Barry Sheene was a great world champion motorcycle racer from the United Kingdom, and the Icon Sheene was built as a tribute to the legend. Only 52 of these bikes were made, and each one of them featured an image of a single playing card that was painted by hand. The Ace of Spades, of course, was the first one off of the line.
The Icon Sheene is a powerful motorcycle with a 1,400cc engine made by Suzuki and could produce up to 250 horsepower. When Icon released the motorcycle, they sold it for $172,000 each, and it was dubbed as the most powerful cycle to ever be produced. Getting your hands on one was extremely difficult. Extreme collectors of the bike may be waiting for the day that they get a full house.
MTT Turbine Streetfighter ($175,000)
MTT (Marine Turbine Technologies) released the Turbine Superbike, also known as the Y2K Turbine Superbike back in 2000. The machine was made by Rolls Royce and can reach speeds of well over 200 miles per hour with its Allison Model 250-C18 turboshaft engine. Unlike other jet fuel based engines, Turbine Superbike could accept diesel or kerosene. The production of these vehicles stopped in 2005, but MTT wasn’t done with the model quite yet.
In 2008, MTT revealed that they would be releasing an improved version called the Streetfighter that would have an incredible 420 horsepower. The final product wasn’t as powerful as they expected it would be, but it still climbed over 200 miles per hour and cost $175,000 per motorcycle. While it may have never achieved the greatness that was promised, it still is one of the fastest and most expensive bikes ever produced. You’d have to be the real Ryu to get something like this.
Ducati Testa Stretta NCR Macchia Nera Concept ($225,000)
In case you don’t speak the native Italian language of Ducati, the Macchia Nera translates into English as “Black Spot.” The reason is because you are likely to leave a few marks on the road when you crank up the accelerator on this superbike. Very few were made by Ducati since it was only a concept designed in 2012, which is where the $225,000 price tag originates.
The Macchia Nera isn’t the fastest on the list, it has a horsepower of 185 and four valves per cylinder with a six speed transmission. The Macchia Nera is certainly one of the better looking ones on this list, but you won’t “spot” many of these on the road; there are still some left for sale from various dealerships, but the most common price that is being listed is around the $225,000 mark.
Ducati Desmosedici D16RR ($232,000)
The Ducati Desmosedici D16RR is street legal, but good luck avoiding the attention of the police when you can reach top speeds of nearly 200 miles per hour. The D16RR was first introduced at a 2006 Italian MotoGP event, and it was there they announced that for just a few months over 2007 and 2008, they’d be produced for sale.
It takes only 5.53 seconds for the D16RR to reach 100 miles per hour, and it comes with a full carbon fiber body with the finest wheels to ensure you can accelerate and decelerate quickly. Only one bike was made each day during the span of its production, and the opening cost was nearly $73,000 with the most expensive going for $232,000. With a lower end price tag, you may even be able to afford one yourself and become the envy of the track.
Ecosse FE Ti XX – $ 300,000
This solid elegant looking bike comes with a 225 horsepower aluminum engine. Traveling up to 250 MPH, Ecosse FE Ti XX is one of the fastest bikes in the world.
Legendary British classic black – $ 400,000
This exclusive antique bike comes with a 250 cc performance. Produced in the United Kingdom, the Legendary Black Vintage is the 4th most expensive bike in the world.
Gold Plated Custom Chopper – $ 500,000
This shiny and unique looking chopper is gold plated and it has the price to show for it. Made more as a showpiece, this bike would certainly flaunt the owner’s deep pockets.
Dodge Tomahawk V10 Superbike ($550,000)
This futuristic speed machine is the stuff of legends.The Tomahawk debuted at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit back in 2003. Originally, the price was listed at $550,000, but Dodge was quick to correct people by saying that they were able to sell two of them for $700,000. That sale price was never confirmed by the media, but I’ve seen that sales tactic used on Craigslist once or twice.
The Tomahawk superbike is a concept bike that weighs nearly 1,500 pounds and can reach 60 miles per hour from a stopped position in just 2.5 seconds; that’s great for people who want to go pick up groceries and be home before the TV commercials are finished. What’s even crazier is that the Tomahawk can reach speeds of up to 300 miles per hour if given the right amount of room. You may never have to go that fast, but it’s nice to know that you can if you ever have to escape a nuclear blast. Unfortunately you won’t be riding this one in the streets since it isn’t street legal.
Ultra Rare Porcupine – $ 750,000
This bike was developed in World War II. Bike enthusiasts who want to own this ultra rare piece must head to the Motorcycle Museum if they want to buy it or simply marvel at its beauty.
$ 1 million Harley-Davidson – $ 1 million
Designed by jack Armstrong, this million dollar bike is the most expensive motorcycle a man can buy on Earth. Boasting of a six-cylinder engine which provides turbo speed, the bike is also fashionably designed. For bike collectors with deep pockets, this bike is the one for them.
Harley Davidson Cosmic Starship ($1.5 Million)
You would think that the most famous motorcycle manufacturer in the United States would have a few limited edition versions that were worth more than $1 million, but this is the only one. The Cosmic Starship was created in collaboration with Jack Armstrong, an artist that hand painted the motorcycle’s design. This world-renown duo is sure to attract those who appreciate motorcycles and art, because otherwise you likely won’t fork over the dough.
Jack Armstrong’s paintings usually sell for upward of $300,000 to $3 million each, so you might actually be getting a deal if you buy this $1.5 million art machine. The bike released in October of 2010and was made to stand out with brightly colored orange and red paint. This was the only bike ever made by Armstrong and Harley-Davidson, and is stated to be the only bike Armstrong will ever paint. If you were hoping to get your hands on one you’ll have to fight the current owner.
Yamaha BMS ($3 Million)
Yamaha is one of the biggest names in the motorcycle production industry, and there is one bikethey’ve produced that stands far above the rest: the BMS. The BMS (or at least the $3 million version of it) has a 1,700cc V-twin engine. That’s all well and good as it sounds pretty standard, but it’s the bells and whistles that push it over the top.
This version of the BMS is plated with 24 karat gold and has one seat that is sewn with red velvet. It is truly a masterpiece in its audacity and class, but It doesn’t seem too necessary to have a motorcycle like that on the road. Millionaire show-offs will certainly be lining up for the BMS; this 2013 release by Yamaha was the only gold plated chopper on the market. Of course if you spend three million dollars on a bike you have to gold plate it, how else will everyone know how much money you have?
Hildebrand & Wolfmuller ($3.5 Million)
The first motorcycle to ever be put on a production line was the Hildebrand & Wolfmüller from Germany, and it was only created from the years of 1894 to 1897. The bike obviously isn’t the fastest thing in the world with a high speed of just 28 miles per hour, but what do you expect for a 110 year old motorcycle that weighs only 110 pounds?
The Hildebrand & Wolfmüller factory closed in 1919 after the First World War, so very few of these motorcycles exist today. This makes them serve more as a historical item than an actual vehicle. If you can get your hands on one it could instantly make you a millionaire, as most of them are just sitting in museums. If you want to see one up close, You’ll have to travel to Germany, London, Detroit, Maine or Indonesia.
Ecosse Spirit ($3.6 Million)
If you are a speed freak that happens to have $3.6 million lying around and collecting dust, the Ecosse Spirit might be for you. Three engineers from the United States and Great Britain collaborated on this machine; it weighs 265 pounds and can reach speeds of up to 230 miles per hour. It was built with the same design used in Formula 1 cars. With all this crazy technology it sounds to me like a formula for a car accident.
The Ecosse Spirit is described as a superbike, and buying one of these requires a two week class at the Ecosse headquarters so you don’t hurt yourself or others while trying to drive it. Only 10 of these Spirit models were made in the titanium series, and each one is listed for at least a minimum of $3.6 million.
1949 E90 AJS Porcupine ($7 Million)
Only four versions of the 1949 E90 AJS Porcupine were produced and it is still one of the most legendary motorcycles ever conceived. AJS and driver Les Graham won just one world championship in 1949, and it came on the heels of this bike. In fact, this is the only twin cylinder motorcycle to win the 500cc event: a rare and prestigious title for a very rare bike.
The design of the AJS motorcycle was changed only a few years later, so the world champion 1949 edition remains the rarest motorcycle out there. The E95 that came out five years later could not match the performance of the E90, but will still cost you a small fortune at auction. It has been said that the Porcupine is the most beautiful and innovative motorcycle ever built, and it better be for 7 million dollars; that price tag will make you feel like you sat on a porcupine. Ouch!
Neiman Marcus Limited Edition Fighter ($11 Million)
Neiman Marcus is known more for its retail stores and is hardly a name synonymous with motorcycles. It comes as a surprise then that they are responsible for the most expensive luxury motorcycle in the world thanks to its Limited Edition Fighter. When the Fighter was released it had a starting price of an already high $110,000.
The Fighter would end up on auction for $11 million with a very unique body that some say resembles the inside of a watch. The Fighter was able to reach speeds of 190 miles per hour, and only 45 of them were made in this limited edition. It was marketed as an “…evolution of the machine” that was reengineered for optimal performance, its creator said “It’s our street-legal sci-fi dream come to life.” For as much as the Fighter costs you may as well consider it a dream, and while this piece of science fiction is completely street legal, you might not want to take it out for a spin with that price tag.
