Christie Swadling had restricted herself to consuming only 200 calories a day because she wanted to resemble her idol Miranda Kerr. Because of her desire to look like a Victoria’s Secret model, she ended up in a hospital with a very low heart rate.

Christie from New South Wales, Australia, was once a long-distance runner, but she had become too weak to walk. She even collapsed when she attempted a slow jog.

She posted YouTube videos about her struggle with anorexia. Her video titled Anorexia Nervosa Almost Killed Me garnered over 600,000 views.

Christie was diagnosed with anorexia nervosa. She lost weight rapidly and had to be admitted to hospital. She is now on the road to recovery and has gained over 20 pounds in the process. She wants to share her message to support the other people also struggling with eating disorders.

Christie says she was just a fan of Miranda Kerr, the tall and slim model. She loved the way Kerr’s stomach was so flat. Her body issues started early, when she was only nine years old. By the time she was 12, she had begun to limit her food intake.

Fiona Sinclair, Christie’s mom, noticed her rapid weight loss and brought her in to see a doctor in 2013.

Christie also exercised up to four hours a day six days a week. Losing weight became a huge obsession.
