There are many people who love Disney princesses, but not everybody would spend $14,000 dollars for dresses, wigs, and makeup to look like the fairy tale characters. Sarah Ingle loves the princesses so much she splurged on 17 outfits and 16 wigs to make her look like Snow White, Cinderella, and Elsa.
The marketing manager from Denver, Colorado, spends her days off dressing like a Disney princess. She charges $140 dollars an hour to perform at events and children’s parties.
When asked to explain her hobby, Sarah says, “It takes a lot of time to get into the outfits because they have lots of layers that tie up at the back. Then I have a different wig and makeup look for each princess. I also have to contour my face when I play Aurora from Sleeping Beauty because my face is much rounder than hers.”

Her boyfriend, Derek Van Schaik, alos gets in on the act and dresses like a prince to complement Sarah’s character.
Her favorite character is Ariel from The Little Mermaid. She likes it because she gets to wear a wig and become a mermaid for the day. When she dresses up as Ariel and Elsa, she covers her hazel eyes by wearing blue contacts.
Sarah has tried dressing up like all the characters from Rapunzel to Princess Merida from Brave. When she does Aurora from Sleeping Beauty, she uses a contouring makeup technique to look more like the character.
During weekends, she goes to parties and events that she is hired for. It makes her happy to see the look on a child’s face when they see their favorite Disney princess arrive at their party. It’s a magical moment for the children.
For her appearances, she has 17 princess outfits to choose from. She can go from being Snow White with a short black wig to Princess Anna with a cape and pigtail braids.
She receives plenty of compliments when she’s in character. Children also think she is a real princess, which is touching. Some days she performs for free in hospitals and care homes. She spent Christmas 2014 in a nursing home entertaining the residents while dressed as Snow White.
One of the best moments for Sarah was when she performed for a little girl who was on a break from her cancer treatments. The little girl simply beamed as she sang along with Sarah. It was an amazing experience for both of them.
In January 2015, Sarah started her own party business. Her thirty-year-old boyfriend Derek is very supportive, he never tires of hearing her sing Disney songs. On some events, he joins her and dresses as a prince.
She’s has an Instagram account with 71,500 followers. She started documenting her princess transformation two years ago. She receives many positive messages, which encourage her to continue. Rarely, she receives a negative comment, but she doesn’t dwell on those.
Sarah dreams of one day being an official Disney character. If she were given a chance, she would love to be Ariel. She elaborates, “I have friends who work at Disney, and I am super jealous. I’ve been to Disney World in the past and I’m looking forward to going again in March. Maybe one day I can go for an audition and they’ll give me my dream job.”
