Planning on going someplace you’ve never been to before? Where is your next travel destination? Do you already have a place to visit in mind? With the countless beautiful places that could attract your interest, you might be confused with all the many options.

Here are a dozen travel destinations that you might wish to consider as you make plans for another adventure. Some of them are places that have been on many traveler’s wish list or are simply places you never thought to be great travel destinations. However, after reading this, you might just change your mind.

Dubrovnik, Croatia

Dubrovnik has become Croatia’s “see and be seen” destinations recently, most especially for “Game of Thrones” fanatics. It is a genuine medieval walled city with the sparkling Adriatic Sea enclosing it. Dubrovnik is one of the most picturesque places in the world and certainly the main attraction in Croatia.

Zürich, Switzerland

August is the best time to visit Zürich when the typical warm temperatures allow you to enjoy the spectacular scenery and the city’s main attraction.

Belfast, Northern Ireland

Belfast makes an ideal home base for exploring Northern Ireland’s very film-worthy scenery. In fact , it houses many of the “Game of Thrones” filming locations. You can visit the Cushendun Caves and Larrybane (The Stormlands, Castle Ward (Winterfell) and Ballintoy Harbour and Murlough Bay (Iron Islands).

Victoria Falls, Zambia, and Zimbabwe

Straddled between Zambian and Zimbabwe is Victoria Falls, not the tallest nor the widest, but the largest waterfall in the world since its height and width result in the largest sheet of falling water on earth. The sight has been attracting tourists for its visual impact and the almost deafening roar produced  by the water.

Shanghai, China

This city growing at an exceptional pace is China’s largest city. Many travelers have favored it for stopovers in Asia because of the the 72 hour pass (no visa needed) for visit. Shanghai offers visitors with various perks such as shopping, attractions and great food.



Fraser Island, Australia

Australia is home to the largest sand island just off the coast of Queensland – Fraser Island. Though it has just a relatively small space, it packs quite a bit of natural wonder. This nature lover’s playground is in the list of UNESCO’s Natural World Heritage Sites in 2002, and remains a popular tourist attraction in Queensland.


The tiny Mediterranean nation of Malta holds a lot of variety of vacation destinations. There are annual arts and music festivals, plenty of hiking, excellent sailing and diving opportunities. Malta also houses the impressive “megalithic temples” which they say are the oldest free-standing monuments in the world.


This small country saw the beginnings of three major religions – Judaism, Islam, and Christianity. Here you can also find historic monuments and UNESCO World Heritage Sites that attract visitors from all faiths and backgrounds. In recent years, tourists in Israel can now visit the holy sites in the Palestinian territories.


It’s only since the 1970s that Oman has been relatively open to tourists and in recent years it has emerged as one of the best destination for intrepid travelers. The UNESCO World Heritage site of the Bahla Fort, a 13th century adobe fortress, has been opened to visitors in late 2012 with very limited hours.

Rocky Mountains, Canada

Canada is the best bet for long distance train trips, much more if you pass by the Rocky Mountains in Western Canada. Get there in style – and more relaxed aboard glass-topped train cars allow you to take in the spectacular scenery while being free to move around.



Rajasthan, India

When you think of India, the first thing that comes to mind are the intensely crowded cities. But if you head for the state of Rajasthan in the northwest, you’ll find nature reserves, national parks, one of the world’s oldest mountain range, an enormous desert, and historic hill forts, six of them collectively making up one of the region’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Barcelona, Spain

This cosmopolitan city boasts proximity to great beaches, excellent Catalonian cuisine, a picturesque historic city center, and iconic Gaudi masterpieces. Barcelona is even more accessible now with the newly-launched high-speed rail line connecting the city with Paris in less than 6.5 hours.
