For a die hard fan of any series or franchise, watching it both on the small screen and the big screen is not enough.
For them, any piece from their beloved series which can be sold as merchandise is more than enough to satisfy their cravings. One die hard Star Wars fan took his love for the famous science fiction series to a whole new level when he was inducted into the Guinness Book of World Records for having the largest collection of Star War memorabilia in the world.
The category for the record was an addition that Guinness added in 2003.
American Steve Sansweet currently holds the record with an estimated collection of 300,000 unique items that ranged from toys to pinball machines. The collection even boasts a replica of the thermal detonator. As of May 2014, only over 90,000 items from the collection were accurately audited and cataloged.
Sansweet estimates that the cataloging process will take years to complete as his current collection still continues to grow.
Visitors can marvel at these rare Star Wars items in a non profit museum which is appropriately named Rancho Obi-Wan. The ranch is ran by Sansweet who is a former Lucasfilm employee and is located in Northern California, USA. The former Lucasfilm employee started his collection in 1996 beating only the previous record holder by a factor of four.
As if collecting Star Wars memorabilia wasn’t enough, Sansweet even penned 16 Star Wars novels which included the 2013 release entitled Star Wars: The Ultimate Action Figure Collection.
