If you have an acrophobia and you’re reading this post, you will want to sing the first line in the song “Lose Yourself” by Eminem. These photos, like the one above, were taken on a mountain in China called Mt. Hua Shan. An enormous set of stone stairs named The Heavenly Stairs will welcome you at the foot of the mountain range. You may have 20/20 eyesight, but you still won’t find the end of the stairs for they go farther than your line of vision.
If you are still willing to take this on, then you will know that the track will lead you to the world’s most dangerous trail known as the Hua Shan Plank Path, which will take you high up on the mountains just outside of Xi’an City. Safety gears are strongly recommended but are not mandatory. People go through such extremely harsh feat for what’s waiting on top.
A hoard of expectant visitors are ecstatic of what’s on the summit
The sight of the steeply arranged stairs is disheartening despite its allure
But that’s just a teaser for a much harder exploit
You will notice small villages as you pave your way along the stairs
A gondola ride will then take you further into the southern peak where the plank path resides
This the part where you count your breaths due to the narrowness of the planks with nothing but chains to clinch
One slip and…
If you think the previous trails are exhausting, then the toe holes will prove you wrong
This terrifying sight is enough to leave you gasping for breath
Tempting the fates with a handstand
A compelling site awaits you at the paramount
A former Taoist temple which was converted into a tea house, sits at the peak
All the effort for this moment in a tea house
Is it the climb or the destination? You can decide for yourself by visiting the tea house on top of Mt. Hua Shan.
