The Amazing Happy Magic Water Park in Beijing

, ,

Aside from the Great Wall of China, China has one water park offering that are sure to be a treat for any time of the year.

Following the success of the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics, the formerly known Beijing National Aquatics Center is now widely recognized as the Water Cube and is now home to Beijing’s Happy Magic Water Park.

Despite the name, the Water Cube is not a cube but rather a cuboid or a rectangular box. The center was first completed on January of 2008 to serve as a venue to the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympic’s water sports. A total of 25 world records were made inside the Water during the 2008 Olympics.

Shortly after the Olympics, the said complex underwent a revamp by turning its interior into a water theme park named Happy Magic Water Park that functions all year round. One of the park’s most distinct features are the bubble, lattice membranes that gives off a “watery” environment.

To further enhance the water environment, tropical reef forms have been abstracted and suspended within the space to create the illusion that they are floating. Some of these floating objects include corals, jellyfish, bubbles and even sea grasses. These thematic elements serve as emphasis with a sense of animation which is in contrast to the geometry of the building.

The Happy Magic Water Park is home to several popular attractions which are the: Tornado Rides, Bulletbowl, AquaLoop, Speedslide, Kid’s Pool, Ride House, Pipeline, Wave Pool, Spa Pool, Lazy River and Passion for Stage.

If you opt to just relax from the hustle and bustle, the water park also has spa zone that features various international and advanced spa facilities. You can also satisfy your cravings with the various water themed restaurants that serve excellent gourmet meals. And what better way to top off the your stay in the water park then buying from the souvenir shops found at the park’s business section.
