‘World’s Fastest Hearse’ Can Travel Up to 400m in Less Than 10 Seconds!

This fully functioning vehicle has just broken records as the world’s fastest hearse.  If that isn’t an interesting feat for you, then we don’t know what is.

If you happen to find yourself living life on the fast lane, then you’d probably want to be sent off to heaven on board this one-of-a-kind hearse. It’s called Madness, and it is the creation of Arne Toman of Chicago, Illinois.

The hearse is inspired by the heavy metal band Iron Maiden, and it travels at speeds faster than the time it takes you to say the words rock ‘n roll. It is actually a customized vehicle, originally the 1996 Chevrolet Caprice. The engine can run up to 0 to 60 in 2.26 seconds and has a horsepower of 1,300. It had successfully set a world record in 2013 for a 9.94-second quarter-mile (402 m) run at 137 mph. No one has broken that record to date.

The coffin carrier was developed after Toman felt challenged in beating the previous world record holder, which traveled a quarter-mile for over 13.72 seconds. “There is no other hearse in the world built to this level of performance, but my car remains a full weight and fully functioning hearse.”

What truly is amazing is how a car this heavy can drive at an incredibly fast speed. To add on how unique it is, the hearse carries a six-liter V8 engine, stereo, and spacious room in the back to carry a coffin.

The design is pretty classy and modernized too. It has the normal red velveteen interior coupled with a unique airbrushed design of Toman’s favorite band, the Iron Maiden.
