Every five years, the capital of The Netherlands holds the greatest nautical spectacle in the world—the SAIL Amsterdam. SAIL Amsterdam has grown to become the largest public event in the Netherlands since its first edition in 1975. It is also the largest free nautical event in the world participated by hundreds of people. An excess of 600 ships will navigate along the North Sea Canal before mooring in and around the IJhaven in Amsterdam, an event that only takes place every five years. You will see Dutch vessels, historic tall ships, and modern ships from all over the world. This 2015, the ninth edition of SAIL Amsterdam will take place from August 19 to 23.
