These sculptures by Christopher David White may look like they are made of wood, but they are not. These sculptures may feature knots, twisting veins, and even some mossy mildew, but none of these are carved from wooden pieces. Instead, White uses clay to create his sculptures.
These deceptive ceramic sculptures are finely detailed that they do really look like wood. White stated, “I utilize trompe l’oeil as a stylistic choice to emphasize the concept that our understanding of the world is an illusion.”
