Disney is known for the motto, “Where Dreams Come True”. But recently, an art series shows that our all-time favorite Disney characters also do experience nightmares like we do.
Jeff Hong, a New York-based animation artist, has thought of putting Disney’s popular characters in the grim conditions of the real world. He called his project “Unhappily Ever After”.
On his Tumblr account, he depicts Ariel washed up on a beach that is covered by oil spill. It was a totally different realm than what she lives in the film, The Little Mermaid.
There was another photo that shows Winnie the Pooh sitting in tears in the middle of The Hundred Acre Wood.
There is also Mulan, who is forced to wear a face mask while walking the smoggy streets of modern China.
Hong’s series also features animal cruelty.
One photo shows Dumbo at the circus, with the circus master holding a whip in a blood-stained hand.
The puppies from 101 Dalmatians are also locked up in small dog cages.
Remy from the film Ratatouille is confined in an animal testing laboratory.
