A Dutch artist created the most beautiful tribute to the painter Vincent Van Gogh when he opened up a glow in the dark bike path in the city of Eindhoven on November 13. The inspiration for the bike path is based on Van Gogh’s famous “Starry, Starry Night” painting.
The artist who is responsible for this 1 kilometer long bike path is none other than Daan Roosegaarde. Roosegaarde teamed up with Hejimans Infrastructure. The path makes use of thousand of glowing stones that feature glow in the dark technology and solar powered LED.
Rossegaarde said in an interview,
“I wanted to create a place that people will experience in a special way, the technical combined with experience, that’s what techno-poetry means to me,”
The opening of the Van Gogh Roosegaarde cycle path marks the start of the Van Gogh 2015 to honor the 125th anniversary of the death of the artist Vincent Van Gogh.
The whole bike route is approximately 335 kilometers long and divides into five individual round trips and connects to different Van Gogh heritage locations in North Brabant where Van Gogh lived and died.
