While peacocks are known for the various vibrant colors they have, this white peacock makes a name for itself in a different way. It is a leucistic Indian peacock. Leucism is a condition wherein there is a partial loss of pigmentation in an animal, resulting in white, pale, or patchy coloration of the skin, hair, feathers, scales, or cuticle. The condition is commonly mistaken to be a result of albinism, a hereditary condition in animals characterized by the absence of pigment in the eyes and other parts of the body.

Basically the largest flower in the world, the Rafflesia arnoldii exclusively exists in the rainforests of Sumatra and Borneo, where they are also considered as a national flower with the passage of Indonesia’s Presidential Decree No. 4. While they are known for their size, they are also known for letting out a horrible odor that smells like decaying flesh.

Before the seventeenth century, it is believed that almost all carrots were purple. The color is caused by anthocyanins, pigments that act as powerful antioxidants that protect key cell components, grabbing and holding on to harmful free radicals in the body. Anthocyanins also help prevent heart disease by slowing blood clotting and are good anti inflammatory agents. They are said to have originated in Afghanistan, the primary center of greatest carrot diversity. The modern-day orange carrot is a cross mutation of the yellow and white carrots. Some believe that in Netherlands, the orange carrots were made as a tribute to the House of Orange and the struggle for Dutch independence. The purple carrots are still orange on the inside.

When Earth’s magnetic field interacts with the sun’s charged particles, it results to a natural phenomenon that has always been so captivating—the aurora. When they are in the Northern Hemisphere, they cover the northern coast of Siberia, Scandinavia, Iceland, the Southern tip of Greenland, northern Canada, and Alaska. They can be visible in the south, but view may be limited. The farther you go south, the less visible it will be. The different ions are what make up the different colors. They are also visible from the space, and in case you don’t know, Earth is not the only planet that has it. Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune have auroras too.

Residing in the rocky and muddy bottoms in the oceans of Southern Australia, the Tasmanian giant crab is one of the largest crabs in the world with a mass of 13 kilograms. The male ones of this species can go twice bigger than the females.

 Also known as the purple maize, the purple corn are used by the people of Andes as a colorant. Their kernels are soaked in hot water to yield a deep purple color for foods and beverages. Just like the purple carrots, the purple corn got its color from anthocyanins.

It can be hard to believe they’re true, especially when you have never seen one. It’s hard to find them in the wild, and it is said that there are only fifty of these alligators. These white alligators are either an albino or leucistic.

 Filled with things creatures that contain enzyme called luciferese, which when oxidized, emits energy in the form of light that causes organisms containing it to glow, this forest is Mother Earth’s version of a glow-in-the-dark room. Just like the fireflies and luminescent squid, the mushrooms in the forest give out light that turns it into a beauty you can never get enough of.

Meet Migaloo, the most well-known humpback whale in Australia. It attracts a lot of people because of its unique color. It is the only known tru albino whale. It came from Antarctica and migrated to the east coast of Australia to the warmer waters ofd Tropical North Queensland. He was first seen in 1991, so he is believed to be in his 20s.

The Antirrhinums are not called snapdragons and dragon flowers for no reason. They resemble the face of the dragon that opens and closes its mouth when squeezed. It looks promising and enticing, but when it dies, it turns into something not really good for some staring. Its dried seed pods look like tiny skulls! Because of this, in ancient times, they were believed to have held supernatural powers. They were thought to be a good form of protection  from sorcery, curses, and witchcraft. Nevertheless, these flowers still look good when fresh, and they also are used for anti-aging purposes.

The Amorphophallus Titanum or Titan Arum’s inflourescence is known to be the largest in the world. But then again, it smells like a decomposing mammal, which gives it the tag corpse flower.
