To be honest, not everybody can appreciate the groundbreaking technology and the pleasing visual appeal brought about by animation. So, it isn’t really a surprise to hear stories about adults watching child-friendly movies not because they want to, but for the sake of looking for scenes with hidden sexual innuendos.
But these scenes wouldn’t be possible if it wasn’t for the animators and writers, who feel some sort of connection with the rest. They are able to give hints about sex, and make it appear innocent for kids, but not for adults.
So, we compiled several kid-friendly flicks and reviewed those scenes that made it past the censors. Read on if you want to see how animators and writers can send out subliminal messages through their works:
The Bus Driver’s Sex Joke in Hocus Pocus (1993)
When the wicked Sanderson Sisters told the bus driver about their desire for children, he just chuckled and said, “It might take me a couple of tries, but I don’t think that’d be a problem”. Apparently, the bus driver was suggesting something dirty.
Genie’s Honeymoon Joke in Aladdin and the King of Thieves (1996)
Aladdin and the King of Thieves became a huge hit that it went straight to DVD. However, the scene when Genie was referring to sex can never be forgotten. During the wedding day of Aladdin and Jasmine, there was an earthquake. Genie suddenly mumbled, “I thought the Earth wasn’t supposed to move until the honeymoon”.
The Vulva Joke in Monster House (2006)
In the 2006 film, Monstrous House, a gigantic house threatens to eat the protagonists. But, Jenny explained it wasn’t attacking the heart, but the uvula. The dumb chubby kid she was talking to then replied, “Oh, so it’s a girl house”. Obviously, this kid knew so much about the female body, even if he messed up the word with “vulva”.
The Butt Joke in Shrek (2001)
The 2001 film Shrek seemed to have strayed far from the typical fairy tale. In one scene, they featured a group of dolls, singing to the tune of “It’s a Small World”. They began singing some lines bragging about the beauty of their kingdom, Duloc. In the latter part, this unforgettable line “Duloc is a perfect place to keep your feet off the grass, shine your shoes, wipe your….”, seemed to suggest something. The dolls turned around and showed off their butts. But, they finished the lyrics with the word, “face”. If you are an adult, you should know what it meant.
Snow White’s Sexual History in Shrek (2001)
One day, Lord Farquad sought help from the Magic Mirror, asking him to look for the perfect and ideal princess. So, they played a sort of a dating game. The Mirror suggested names of women and told him everything about her. When Snow White’s name was mentioned, he described her by saying, “just because she lives with seven men doesn’t mean she’s easy”.
The Sex Joke in Robots (2005)
Herb Copperbottom lives in a world where robots rule. One day, he hurried his way back home from work to see whether his baby has already been delivered. Sadly, when he arrived home, his wife Lydia told him, “You missed the delivery, but it’s okay. Making the baby is the fun part”.
The Oral Sex Joke in The Brave Little Toaster (1987)
The Brave Little Toaster is indeed a dark movie. Not only does it deal with abandonment issues, it also tells something about personal inadequacies. Aside from that, there is one scene that seems to go beyond the line. When talking to the vacuum, the air conditioner said, “Hey, I’m real scared there, Kirby. What are you going to do, suck me to death?”. What do you think did he suggest?
There are a lot of child-friendly films that have sexual innuendos hidden in them. All you really have to do is look closely enough and you will see them right before your very eyes.
