Edward Smith has had over 1,000 lovers. But only one of those has been a person, the rest have been cars.
The 62-year-old from Yelm, Washington, is a mechaphile, which means he is sexually attracted to machines. He explains his fetish, “Some guys look at boobs and bums on beautiful women. I look at the front and rear on beautiful cars.”
As a teen, Edward first became attracted to machines. He went on to have sexual contact with hundreds of vehicles. At his peak, he would have one conquest a week.

He is now committed to his long-term lover, a Volkswagen Beetle named Vanilla. He’s had the car for thirty years. Edward claims it is an open relationship and he also makes love to a 1973 Opal GT called Cinnamon and a 1993 Ford Ranger called Splash.
But Edward claims that his one true love is Vanilla. Edward goes on picnic dates with the white hatchback. He says, “When I hold Vanilla in my arms, there’s a powerful energy that comes from her.”
Edward says that his relationship is satisfying but sometimes sad because Vanilla cannot talk to him. He would be heartbroken if anything ever happened to the car.
As a teenager, he was confused by his feelings for the machinery. He claims to have lost his virginity to a neighbor’s Volkswagen Beetle.
