Thirty-seven-year-old Tara Sawyer has been pregnant seven times, but only four of those babies are hers. Sawyer said that the first time she did a pregnancy test and it came through positive, she knew right then that she’s addicted to carrying a baby in her tummy

Sawyer has been doing it for two years, and her husband, Matt, doesn’t have a problem with her being a surrogate mother. Having carried three babies for other people, Sawyer said that as of the moment, she doesn’t have plans to stop. “I don’t think I’m going to stop being a surrogate for a long time. I think it’s something that I’ve now got so attached to,” she said. “I’ve always just loved having the big belly and having people coo over the precious little gift inside and being really, really healthy.”

The mother of four does it for free, although surrogacy laws declare that she could ask for more than $20,000 to cover the expenses.
Tara is actually an adoptee. She was taken in by a couple who couldn’t bear a child. So as a form of giving back, she’s helping others who struggle with infertility.

Asked about how it feels to be separated from the baby she’s carried for nine months, Tara says, “I wouldn’t see this as ever handing a baby over. This is handing a baby back. I’ve just babysat it for nine months.”
