1. Childhood

Rousey had a slight learning disability when she was young due to an umbilical cord winding around her neck during childbirth. She learned her first words by six years old and had a specialist practice extreme speech therapy with her.


2. Sports Illustrated’ swimsuit model

Athletes don’t often find themselves in the pages of Sports Illustrated, but Rousey did just that in 2015.


3. UFC’s first female fighter

By November 2012, Rousey made history by becoming the first female fighter to ever sign a contract with UFC. Not only did she pave way for aspiring female athletes to break out in a male-dominated industry, but she also managed to snag the first UFC Women’s Bantamweight Championship belt.
