The media began taking notice of Britney’s erratic behavior, when she dropped the first bomb—marrying childhood friend Jason Alexander in a Vegas chapel. But, the couple was quick to file for a divorce, just fifty-five hours after they tied the knot, an event that shocked everyone. Still, it seemed Britney had a connection with Vegas for quite a while.
After three months of dating, Kevin Federline and Britney announced their engagement. When Britney married Federline, she just had a surgery and was put in a leg brace because of an injury she got while shooting the music video for her song “Outrageous”. The relationship received a lot of attention, since at the time, Federline had just broken up with his then-pregnant girlfriend, Shar Jackson.
Britney finally decided to take a break to focus on her family. During her hiatus, she released the album Greatest Hits:My Prerogative and the compilation B. However, she stopped touring entirely.

The police arrived at Britney’s house only to find the singer intoxicated in the presence of her sons. The singer refused to turn over her two children to ex-husband Federline despite a court order to do so. Later on, Britney’s custody rights were suspended, and full custody was given to Federline, while the pop star was put on a 5150 or an involuntary psychiatric hold.
Rest of 2008–Present
After disappearing from the music scene, Britney came right back up after she fought and eventually won visitation rights to her children. She then released a song in 2008 titled “Womanizer”, which was part of her new album Circus. Spears started another tour after it and even graced the covers of some magazines.
It was in the same year, 2008, when Britney appeared in one of the episodes of TV series How I Met Your Mother, which people took as her official comeback. She also released another Greatest Hits album. As of 2015, Britney Spears is on tour for “Britney: Piece of Me”, and this is set to last until 2017.
