Lemons are one of Mother Nature’s miracle fruits.

This ellipsoidal yellow colored fruit is quite known for its culinary and non culinary purposes. From appetizers to delectable desserts, this wonderful ingredient is know to make the freshest foods around. From cosmetics to beauty home remedies, the lemon is one true miracle worker.

Yet unknown to many, this yellow sour tasting fruit also has household uses that will make your life easier. Whether its cleaning some stubborn stains to deodorizing cut boards, here are the top ten uses for your lemon.

1.) Can be used to brighten your laundry.


The environmental friendly lemon is perfect for brightening whites. All you have to to is to add 1/4 to 1.2 cup of lemon juice to your wahser along with your detergent.

2.) Perfect to Polish Chrome and Stainless Steel


Ran out of chrome polish? Rub the cut side of the lemon over these surfaces to get rid of water spots. Include salt to eliminate rust.

3.) Deodorize the Fridge, Cutting Board & More


To get rid of unwanted smells on your cutting board along with other items in your kitchen, spray some course salt on the surface and then use the cut side of the lemon as your scrubber. Let it set for ten minutes or so before rinsing. To eliminate funky smells from a fridge, soak a few cotton balls in lemon juice and leave them inside for a few hours.

4.) De-Grease Surfaces


Mix lemon juice with either baking soda or dish detergent to create a thick paste. You then use it to scrub out grease inside your oven, on your stove top, or anywhere else that needs a little extra cleaning power.

5.) Wash Produce


For an all natural cleaning spray, mix a cup of water, 1/2 cup of white vinegar and a tablespoon of lemon juice inside a spray bottle.



6.) Keep Veggies Crisp & Bright


To keep your vegetables crisp and free of oxidation, soak your veggies in a bowl of cold water mixed with the juice of a half a lemon and dry them thoroughly. Refrigerate afterwards.

7.) Eliminate Mildew Smell


Remove visible mildew from textiles by making a paste from lemon juice and salt.  Rub it in and let it dry in the sun.  Repeat the  process mildew is gone. To get rid of stubborn odor, soak the items in hot water with 1/2 cup of lemon juice for an hour or so before washing as usual.

8.) Kill Weeds


Instead of using pesticides to kill weeds, all you have to do is to drown them in lemon juice.

9.) Repel Pests


Repel ants, fleas, mice, cockroaches and other pests with a homemade lemon juice spray. Boil six halved lemons in a quart of water for five minutes, let them steep in the covered pot overnight and transfer to a clean spray bottle. Squirt the mixture anywhere pests might get into your home.

10.) De-Funk the Microwave


To quickly soften crusted-on food splatters, place half of a cut lemon into a bowl with two cups of water, microwave on high until the water boils. Let it sit for about ten minutes before removing the bowl and wiping out the gunk.
