You idolize them. When you were young, all you could say was that you wanted to end up like them. They were your gods when you didn’t know what the word really meant. Celebrities—the star in everyone’s daydream and the people who made us all feel what one-sided love is.
But they are not really perfect. Just like us, they’re just humans. They may be good at what they do—acting, singing, dancing, and hosting—but they do fail sometimes, maybe not just as often as we do.
On events, stars spend the sleepless nights just to prepare to walk the red carpet. They choose clothes and the right kind of makeup. But sometimes, it seems like they have not prepared enough—or maybe not at all. Here are twenty celebrities who have failed at choosing the right outfit . . . big time.
Miley Cyrus, MTV Music Awards 2013
Trying to keep up with the guy who goes like a wrecking ball must have left her too tired to find the best clothes.
Nicki Minaj, AMAs red Carpet 2010
Her anaconda could have wanted anything but this.
Ke$ha, MTV Europe Music Awards 2010
She looked like she skinned a frog and wore its skin. There’s a song from her 2010 album Animal that would best describe this—”Take It Off.”
Mariah Carey, Mimi Tour
She says “Thank God I Found You” in one of her songs, but no one would actually thank God she wore this outfit in her tour.
Christina Aguilera, American Music Awards 2013
We all wish she would call her “Genie in a Bottle” and give her another dress.
Jennifer Lopez, 42nd Grammy Awards
The boy next door won’t be too glad to see this.
Rihanna, 777 Tour in Toronto
Darling, “Where Have You Been?” You should have gone somewhere else and bought another one.
Shakira, ACM Awards 2014
Hips don’t lie, but our eyes don’t either.
Sharon Stone (and Her Fur)
It should be a basic instinct not to have a signature style like this.
Kimora Lee Simmons, MET Gala
Sometimes, it’s wise not to follow a fashion icon.
When this dude hits the streets, it’s not a good sight sometimes.
Sarah Jessica Parker, Elle‘s 19th Annual Women in Hollywood Celebration
While she’s hailed as a fashion icon, the Sex and the City star did it wrongly this time.
Avril Lavigne in SiriusXM Studio
This is when you’d really get to say, “What the Hell.”
Leighton Meester, Harry Winston Party
Yes, “Good Girls Go Bad,” and you were the first one to do it, apparently, Leighton. You’re still pretty though.
Heidi Montag, Wet Republic at MGM Grand
We’re sorry, Heidi, but we can’t Just Go with It.
Solange Knowles, MET Gala 2015
Yes, Solange, “Some Things Never Seem to Fucking Work,” and this dress is proof to that.
Madonna, Grammy Awards 2015
The epitome of a girl gone wild.
Because her husband is on the list, she doesn’t want to be left out. Kim just sometimes goes really off the point.
Britney Spears, NRJ Music Awards 2002
It’s been years since this happened, but she just keeps on doing it again, all we can say is, “Oops, she did it again.”
Because she tells you to just “Do What U Want,” she doesn’t want to be told what to wear either. It’s okay. If she’s born that way, it’s okay.
These celebrities sure did take their dress choice to a different level. They may not dress in a way that should be followed, their songs and movies and all of their works remain an inspiration to us. Nevertheless, they are just stars who work in a complicated industry. None of them really told you to dress the way they do, so they can wear what they want.
