He Wanted a Textbook But Amazon Gave Him a 10 Inch Dildo: No, SERIOUSLY

Online shopping definitely made our lives easier and more comfortable. However, there are these rare instances when we get disappointed because of the services they offer or the products we get. Though matters can be settled in the long run, the hassle that these services have brought about to us will never be forgotten. Here is one memorable online shopping story you should know.

According to reports, the man hiding under the name Pedro purchased a specialized textbook for his class from the German version of Amazon. When the book arrived, he was disappointed because it was out-of-date. He was very sure that it was listed online as the latest edition.

Hoping to get things fixed, Pedro immediately contacted the customer service of Amazon. He tried to ask whether he could have the current version of the book instead. Since they could not find an updated version of the text, he was asked to return the book to get a refund.

Considering the time spent looking for the most recent version of the book and the moment wasted by Amazon searching for the book in the warehouse, Pedro became really unhappy with his whole shopping experience. For that reason, he decided to express his disappointment by leaving a negative feedback on a customer satisfaction survey.

At that time, he thought everything was already settled. Turned out, he was totally wrong.

The next time he opened his Amazon account, he was surprised to see something he didn’t recall putting on his online cart. It was a giant dildo, specifically the Hulk 10.25-inch Huge Dong Black.

Shocked at what he discovered, he reacted, “If my best friend did it to me while I wasn’t watching, of course I would find it funny, I’m not a prude. The problem is, I was at the office, in an open space, with people behind me. A guy and two girls were sitting by me when I opened up Amazon and they saw the contents of my shopping basket.”

Pedro then suspected that a customer service representative from Amazon might have placed the dildo in his shopping basket as an act of revenge for his negative review. So he sent an e-mail to the online shopping site and asked them what happened.

Andreas Mühlbauer, who was a part of Amazon’s Customer Relations team, immediately responded. He was sorry for the incident and claimed that he didn’t know how the item got into Pedro’s cart. He also gave the disappointed customer the assurance that the incident would not happen again as he had already reported it to the HR department. To somehow uplift his spirit, they gave him a €100 voucher, which he can use on their site.

Many tried to reach out to Amazon to clarify the actual happenings, but the online shopping giant would not say anything as they respect their customer’s privacy.

When asked again about his bizarre experience, Pedro said he was no longer bothered about it but added that he just had one more important issue. He said, “I would expect something called ‘The Hulk’ to be green. Its picture is pink, and the description says it is black. My whole issue with Amazon started because of incorrect description of items—and this entry does not help their case.”
