In this time and age, making ends meet can be a difficult task. If you happen to find yourself in a similar situation, then maybe you’d like to consider this job that is currently up for grabs. All you need to have is experience in watching over children. Oh, and maybe nerves of steel can be particularly helpful.
Scottish Family Hiring a Live-In Nanny for Haunted House
A Scottish family is looking for a new live-in nanny to watch their children. The catch? Well, the house the family lives in is said to be haunted.
The job listing was posted on Childcare.co.uk. The couple details that they’ve been living in the house for nearly a decade but have been losing nannies who keep claiming that they were being haunted by the spirits of the departed.
The odd thing about this job posting is that the couple has stated that they have never experienced any form of paranormal activity themselves. They even calmly described their home as a “lovely, spacious, historic property in a remote spot with spectacular views.” Maybe the adjectives “historic” and “remote” are enough to turn the warning bells on in your head, but a £50,000 ($63,765) salary and the allure of a paranormal adventure just might be enough to attract potential candidates.
The chosen applicant will have to care for a 5-year-old and a 7-year-old. Their tasks will include preparing breakfast, getting them ready for school, and putting them to bed. They could have forgotten to list down “regular exorcisms” and “Ouija board experience” on the list, but that just might be done intentionally.

Here is the listing straight from the website:
“We have lived in our home for nearly 10 years. We were told it was ‘haunted’ when we bought it, but kept our minds open and decided to buy the house regardless. Five nannies have left the role in the last year, each citing supernatural incidents as the reason, including strange noises, broken glass, and furniture moving. This has obviously been a period of great upheaval for our children. We haven’t personally experienced any supernatural happenings, as they have been reported only while we’ve been out of the house, but we’re happy to pay above the asking rate, and feel it’s important to be as up-front as possible to find the right person.
We are keen to find the perfect long-term nanny, so if you’d like to be considered for this rewarding and exciting position, please do get in touch with us.”
The ad not only managed to shock site visitors, but the CEO of Childcare.co.uk found himself gaping at the description.
“When we saw the advert, we were stunned,” Richard Conway, CEO of Childcare.co.uk, told The Telegraph. “Some of the guys at HQ were skeptical, but after talking to the family and their previous employees, we realized it was a genuine position. We have hundreds of thousands of providers on the site and we’re hoping that one of them will be able to help them.”
