New Interactive Google Map Searches the Most Popular Costume by Location

Halloween is just around the corner. So Google has decided to map the most searched Halloween costumes by location with the help of their data from Google searches.

Frightgeist is an interactive map that’ll let you toggle over various American cities and see what costumes Google users are searching for.

Daenerys Targaryen is the most searched costume in Alpena, Michigan. People in Presque Isle, Maine, are into clowns while those in Glendive, Montana, are aiming to be Batgirl. It may sound clichéd, but most of the other locations are into the most prominent characters every Halloween—pirates.

The Google project also has a national ranking of the 504 most popular costumes. At the top are Harley Quinn and Star Wars with Princess Leia ranking as the most famous Star Wars character searched for in Google’s costume searches. Although the ranking doesn’t really specify what kind of Leia is searched for, the normal Leia or Jabba the Hut slave Leia. At the bottom sits Jessica Rabbit.

Google intends to use this simple tool so people can head to a more creative direction with their costumes. So check it out and try visiting Frightgeist first for suggestions and ideas in your areas
