VietJet is Vietnam’s lone privately owned carrier and is going to go public soon. The VietJet Aviation Joint Stock Co.‘s initial offer to the public is not less than $1.37 billion, making Thao a billionaire.

The airline is set to go public this year. Thao controls 95 percent of the VietJet and has a stake in Dragon City, a 65-hectare expansion in Ho Chi Minh.

Using their clever strategy of putting bikini-clad women working as stewardess, the carrier was able to secure more than 30 percent of the airline industry’s market. And with the way they’re climbing up, it won’t be long before they give the country’s national carrier Vietnam Airlines a good competition.

When VietJet goes public, Thao is going to be at least $1.37 billion richer

Thao also said, “We don’t mind people associating the airline with the bikini image. If that makes people happy, then we are happy.”

VietJet is popular for hiring very young beautiful flight attendants in their bikinis for their inaugural flights to beach destinations and are also promoted on calendars wearing the same attire. Thao said that by wearing bikinis, the staff are empowering portrait in a country that has a conservative culture.

That’s girl power for you.
