Rare Two Sets of Black and White Twins Born in the Same Family

,

Lauren and Hayleigh Durrant were born twins. Although fraternal twins are a common occurrence, when the a set of twins differ in eye color, skin tone, and even hair, it is a unique sight to see. Lauren has light skin, red hair, and blue eyes, much like her mother, Allison. Hayleigh, on the other hand, takes from her father, Dean, and has a darker skin and dark hair. Simply said the black and white twins.

Allison and Dean Durrant are a mixed-race couple from Britain. Years after giving birth to Lauren and Hayleigh, the couple found out that they were expecting once more. Little did they know, the amazing story of their first-born twins was about to happen again.

When twins Miya and Leah were born, they too had different shades of hair and skin color.

This rare phenomenon happens when the fetus develops from two different fertilized eggs, not necessarily carrying the same genes. What is amazing for the Durrants is that other than the fact that this does not happen to many couples, it is also unlikely to have two sets of biracial twins born to one family.

“I didn’t think the same thing would happen again. I was blown away when I saw them together. I didn’t know until then that there was such a big difference between the two,” Dean said. “It was clear to see, but they were rushed away after they were born so we didn’t realize until we saw them together. Another black and white twins. We have a very special family.”
