Sexual fetishes are common. It is something of an underground world because not many are vocal about revealing their secret fantasies. Now there are even realistic very human-like machines that you could be seeing in homes and beds soon.
This might sound like something from a sci-fi movie, but it’s true. Sex robots are set to be the biggest trend of 2016. These fake human clones are becoming more and more lifelike. It is looking like they could be used not only for intimate moments, but some people may even fall in love with the dolls because they seem so real.

A leading authority of psychology of sex and relationships is Dr. Helen Driscoll. She says that sex tech is a quickly progressing field. Dr. Driscoll says that having a robot become interactive with motion-sensing features is likely to become a huge part of the sex industry in the coming years.
Driscoll explains, “We tend to think about issues such as virtual reality and robotic sex within the context of current norms. But if we think back to the social norms about sex that existed just 100 years ago, it is obvious that they have changed rapidly and radically.”

Right now, robophilia still seems a very strange sexual deviance, but it could very well be regarded as normal in the near future because of the rate of advancing technology. Virtual reality is more realistic and is able to really replicate human actions like sex with a human partner. It is not inconceivable that, in the future, people will choose to be with robots instead of a live human being.
Driscoll added, “People may also begin to fall in love with their virtual reality partners.”
This is not a groundbreaking prediction. Technology has just improved more quickly than expected. In 2007, David Levy from the University of Maastricht told LiveScience that by 2050, people might be marrying robots and consummating their marriage vows.
It might not appeal to all, but definitely, once it becomes “normal” to interact with robots, people will come around. Levy did a PhD thesis on Intimate Relationships with Artificial Partners, where he stated that when the robots become more human-like in terms of having a personality, their functions, and appearance, it will be more likely that romantic relationships will bloom. The way Levy sees is, “Love and sex with robots are inevitable.”
Dr. Ian Pearson wrote a report for the online sex shop Bondara, saying, “Brothels and strip clubs will soon include robots and they will be a specific fetish for some people, as well as a potentially cheaper replacement for real-life interaction.”
Dr. Pearson believes that the advances in sexual technology will be able give opportunities for intimate relations for those who wouldn’t have them. His report states that by 2050, human-robot interactions will overtake human-to-human contact. The technology is already available now.
RealDoll is a manufacturer of love dolls. Matt McMullen, CEO of RealDoll, says that they will produce a new toy that will blink, open its mouth, and even be able to chat with you. The goal is for the doll to seem very real and appear that “she enjoys the act of sex.”
They might even launch a new company that will integrate artificial intelligence with virtual reality applications.
In the United Kingdom, some robotics experts are campaigning against the development of these interactive sex toys in their country. Dr. Kathleen Richardson of De Montfort University in Leicester, calls the development of these robots disturbing and says they need to be stopped.

The focus on developing the robotics industry and coming up with these devices are disturbing because Dr. Richardson feels they will contribute to the downfall of real human relationships.
