Southern Taiwan was hit by a 6.4 magnitude tremor on February 6, 2016, which struck unsuspecting civilians at four in the morning.
Houses and buildings collapsed, and it left a lot of families scouring the wreckage in the city of Tainan.

The natural disaster left at least 15 people lifeless. A ten-day-old girl, along with three other children, and six adults, died after the floors of tower block fell down onto them.

The 17-story apartment complex had a total of 256 registered tenants, but it’s said that there could have been more people living in it because the population inside the complex could’ve risen.

But with the efforts of more than 2,000 firefighters, they were able to rescue a couple of kids trapped under the ruins of the building.

However, it’s said that as many as 172 people were unaccounted for and more than 100 people remained missing, according to the reports of Taiwan’s official Central News Agency and local authorities.

Despite their losses, it is still a miracle that the rescued kids were able to come out alive after such a catastrophic event. The Taiwanese continue to mourn over the loss of lives, but they are still happy that rescuers were able to save young souls from going too soon.
