A large rig was halted by authorities in the Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge cargo facility. The goods seemed to be just packages of carrots, but upon closer inspection, some of it were actually just made of plastic.
When the border agents opened the plastic carrots, they discovered cannabis. They searched the whole rig and found 2,817 marijuana packages, which have a projected street value of $500,000 .
If inspected one by one, the plastic carrots can be easily distinguished , but its difficult to tell the difference if they’re grouped together with the real ones.
“Once again, drug smuggling organizations have demonstrated their creativity in attempting to smuggle large quantities of narcotics across the U.S.–Mexico border.” said Port Director Efrain Solis Jr.
