A seemingly normal domestic air travel on one of Southwest’s shuttles went from zero to nasty. Two passengers got into an argument so intense that the pilot decided to return to the airport. The cause? A simple reclining chair.
The delayed flight from LAX going to San Francisco set the scene for the altercation when a passenger allegedly reclined her chair back onto another passenger.
Shocked passengers who saw the whole commotion said that a man got dismayed by the reclining chair that he proceeded to choke the woman. What made the situation creepier was the fact that the man portrayed unusual calmness over the course of the mishap.
The audio transmission of the flight reported by the pilots stated, “Evidently, we’ve got two passengers who are in a physical altercation, so we need to get turned around back to LAX.”
The flight landed back to LAX at 10:43 p.m. after flying for just 13 minutes. Law enforcement officials greeted the plane as it docked to escort the man to the detainment facility for questioning. The plane had to switch gates and re-board the passengers in order to take off again. In the end, the plane arrived in San Francisco at 2:00 a.m., five hours late from the scheduled time of arrival.
An hour and twenty minute flight doesn’t seem like a very long flight. Perhaps the man had his nerves wrecked due to the delay that he just exploded after his patience was pushed to the limit. Well, that escalated quickly.
