A woman living in 737 Big Elm Road allegedly fired a BB gun at a car full of teenagers who reportedly stopped near her house to take photos of a “haunted” tunnel.

During the arraignment, Brandi Lea Amey has been charged with five counts of aggravated attack.

According to the report filed by HCSO Deputy Michael Lipe, “Shortly before 11:00 p.m., Thursday, Jessica Winstead, 20, of Johnson City, and four juvenile friends, stopped a railroad tunnel off of Big Elm Road near Amey’s home.”

A male teenager was just outside the automobile taking photos of a tunnel, which was said to be as haunted as the nearby Sensabaugh tunnel, according to local legends.

“Jessica stated that a female with blond hair came out from the residence next to the tunnel and told them they needed to leave,” Lipe said. The woman was later identified as Amey.

He added, “As the male was getting back into the vehicle, they observed some type of firearm in Amey’s hand. Jessica said she saw the female cocking the firearm, and as they drove off, she fired it at them, striking the rear of the vehicle.”

In his report, Lipe also stated that he noticed the left tail light of the car to be broken.

Amey explained her side of the story, saying, “There was an ongoing issue with people stopping at the tunnel and causing disturbance.” She also recalled that a guy got out of the car and was walking on the trails to the tunnel. So, she asked them to leave immediately.

The 28-year-old lady was then arrested at 1:00 a.m. Later that evening, she was released on a $10,000 bond.
