Garret Wayman, 17, thought he was left a big tip, but the excitement faded when he realized that it wasn’t a real bill. It was a small religious pamphlet.
Wayman had already finished serving a table when he noticed what looked to be a folded bill under a ketchup bottle.

When he picked it up and unfolded it, Wayman noticed it was a Bible pamphlet that had a message about “faith through Jesus Christ.”
The message said,
DON’T BE FOOLED!
THERE IS SOMETHING YOU CAN HAVE MORE VALUABLE THAN MONEY!

The teenager aired his frustration on social media and received a lot of attention.

He was very frustrated that he was left a fake bill. He wanted to tell the customer that he only makes $3 an hour and he works very hard at his job.
Wayman works hard to pay off the $7,000 dollars he owes on his car. He doesn’t even take weekends off, and he was excited to see what he thought was $20 because tips of that amount are rare. Many of the people who reacted on social media said the customer’s actions were very “un-Christian-like” and simply illegal.
The identity of the customer who left the religious message remains unknown.
