Unfortunately, Emily Rose’s story is actually based on a real-life case that started in 1969 when a German girl named Anneliese Michel‘s started to take a turn for the worst.

Anneleise Michel was born on September 21, 1952. Growing up, she was a happy, kind, polite, intelligent, and compassionate young lady who also happened to be deeply religious. However, when she was 17, she started experiencing epileptic seizures and convulsions and was diagnosed with severe psychosis and temporal lobe epilepsy.

She was then sent to receive medical treatment at a psychiatric hospital, but instead of curing her, she went into depression.

Three years after her initial diagnosis, Anneliese, a deeply religious girl, began to display intolerance to religious articles, and according to reports, she also started having hallucinations. That wasn’t the end of it though. Soon, claims added that she began to see demons and hear voices that condemned her to hell.
